Duke Lacrosse Players Sue for 'Premeditated' Misconduct
Three Duke lacrosse players falsely accused of rape have sued former District Attorney Mike Nifong and the city of Durham for civil rights violations.
The suit also names police officials and a DNA lab as defendants, the Herald Sun (reg. req.) reports. It seeks unspecified damages and the appointment of a citizen committee to review complaints of police misconduct.
The suit calls the case “one of the most chilling episodes of premeditated police, prosecutorial and scientific misconduct in modern American history,” the Associated Press reports.
