Drew Peterson Lawyer Angry Over Ditched ‘Win a Date With Drew’ Contest
Drew Peterson and his lawyer called in to a Chicago radio show yesterday and agreed to a “Win a Date With Drew” contest, but the station has called it off. Now the lawyer, Joel Brodsky, is criticizing the decision.
Drew Peterson, named as a suspect in his wife’s disappearance, had agreed in yesterday’s interview with radio personality Steve Dahl to come back today for the contest, CNBC reports.
It sounded as if Dahl came up with the idea during the on-air interview, and Peterson responded by saying “ask the lawyer,” the story says. But WJMK radio says it was Peterson and Brodsky who approached the station.
The radio host, Steve Dahl, told the Chicago Tribune in an e-mail that he changed his mind about the contest after thinking it over. “It was a spontaneous on-air bit and never officially set up,” he said.
Brodsky told a local TV reporter for NBC5 that the cancellation is hypocritical. “They make money by letting Steve Dahl do Drew Peterson comedy bits, songs and impersonations, but now they are too high and mighty and say they will not even let Drew on the air.”
A Chicago Tribune profile of Brodsky calls him “a glib, aggressive lawyer who has been hustling among courthouses in the city and suburbs for 25 years.” He has never handled a homicide case.
Peterson maintains his wife is missing because she ran off with another man.
Opines Tribune media writer Phil Rosenthal, “Every time you think you’ve seen the last bizarre twist to the case, there’s more, like so many clowns spilling out of a tiny car.”
