DLA Piper picks up Los Angeles-based boutique firm Liner
Corrected: Liner LLP, a Los Angeles-based boutique law firm, is merging with DLA Piper.
Liner has two Los Angeles offices, and one in New York, Bloomberg Law reports. Its website lists approximately 70 attorneys, according to the article, but it’s not clear if all would be joining DLA Piper.
“We are excited about the opportunity to help build, under the DLA Piper umbrella, an even stronger presence in Southern California, Silicon Beach and beyond. This merger will give us the ability to provide our clients with the services offered by DLAPiper in New York and other important national markets, and to capitalize on their strengths and depth of practice in areas like M&A, private equity, finance, infrastructure and sports,” Stuart Liner, managing partner of Liner LLP, said in a press release.
The release states that approximately 60 Liner attorneys will join DLA Piper’s Century City and downtown Los Angeles offices, with practice areas including real estate, new media and private equity.
Liner attorneys making the move include Stanton “Larry” Stein, who has represented musicians Drake and LeAnn Rimes; and Rocky Delgadillo, the former Los Angeles city attorney, Bloomberg reports.
In the United States, law firms announced 52 mergers by July 2017, which is a record number, Law360 reported (sub. req.) In 2016, Altman Weil reported 85 law firm mergers and acquisitions.
