DLA Piper Hires Former Business School Dean as Consultant
DLA Piper has hired the former dean of Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management as a consultant.
Dipak Jain left his position at Northwestern last summer, the Chicago Tribune reports. He joins two other business experts who are working as consultants at the law firm: former LaSalle Bank chairman Norman Bobins and former Ernst & Young real estate executive Dale Anne Reiss.
The Tribune says Jain’s background “may hint at DLA’s next area of expansion.” He is a native of India and has several contacts in South Asia.
A recent decision by the Bombay High Court held that India licensing law requires all lawyers practicing in the country to be licensed there. Law firms are likely to station lawyers in nearby countries, hiring Indian lawyers for particular transactions or partnering with Indian firms, the ABA Journal reported in April.
