Detroit Mayor Didn't Violate Bond
Embattled Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick finally caught a break.
The prosecution in one of the two criminal cases in which he is currently a defendant contended that he had violated the terms of his bond by having contact with his sister, who is a witness in the case, while both were visiting their mother. But the same Michigan judge who last week sent the mayor to jail for violating his bond in the other case by traveling out of state ruled today that there was no violation in this case, reports the New York Times.
“I don’t see the issue,” District Judge Ronald Giles told the prosecution during today’s hearing in Detroit. “I see no violation with regards to him having contact with his sister.”
