Deputy Los Angeles city attorney charged with child porn possession
A deputy Los Angeles city attorney has been charged with possession of child pornography, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Christopher Richard Garcia was arrested Sept. 4 at his home in San Pedro. He had been on administrative leave since last November; it was then that authorities served a search warrant and seized computers and other electronic evidence from his home.
Garcia, 57, is free after posting a $40,000 bond. He is charged with sending or bringing obscene material into California for sale and for possession of material depicting minors in sexual conduct, the Times reports.
Garcia was assigned as a lawyer for the Los Angeles International Airport.
“When our office became aware of these allegations 10 months ago, Mr. Garcia was immediately placed on administrative leave, where he remains today,” city attorney spokesman Rob Wilcox said. “We cannot comment further on this ongoing criminal matter.”
