Dead Man Admitted Stealing from Missing Ga. Lawyer
A “person of interest” admitted in what authorities think are suicide notes that he stole from a missing Georgia lawyer and her husband.
Dennis Ray Gerwing, 54, who was found dead this week, admits in two notes that he stole from Savannah attorney Elizabeth Calvert, 45, and her husband John, 47, reports the Beaufort Gazette. The newspaper adds, however, that authorities say the circumstances of Gerwing’s death are unusual in a suicide: he reportedly had multiple stab wounds when he was found in the bathroom of a property that his company managed.
Gerwing and the Calverts were involved in related business operations.
The article reports that an unnamed source told another newspaper that authorities believe the Calverts are dead, although their bodies have not been found.
More details of Gerwing’s death and the search for the Calverts are discussed in previous ABAJournal.com posts about the missing couple.
