D.C. Tax Practice Hot; Major Tax Law Changes Expected

Law firms in the nation’s capital are looking to hire seasoned tax lawyers in the expectation of significant statutory changes.

The ever-increasing scope of the alternative minimum tax, as well as the upcoming expiration of a record-breaking $4 trillion worth of tax provisions, are expected to spur landmark legislation, reports the National Law Journal.

“The next president has some ticking time bombs to address,” says Jim Miller, a tax attorney lured to Winston & Strawn’s D.C. office last month from Hunton & Williams. “There’s now the greatest potential for tax reform certainly since 1986.
