Day Pitney to open in Florida by merging with small trusts and estates firm
Day Pitney has announce a planned merger with a small Florida trusts and estates firm.
The merger with Chapin Ballerano & Cheslack, which is to take place on Jan. 1, will establish a Florida practice for Day Pitney, a Northeast regional law firm that lists close to 300 lawyers on its website. Currently it has five offices in Connecticut, as well as a presence in Boston, New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.
“The merger is part of our overall strategy to serve our clients where they have needs,” said managing partner Stanley Twardy Jr. in a law firm news release. “Florida’s economy has been growing and we are seeing an increase in client demand to conduct business in the sunshine state due to its tax-friendly environment.”
James Ballerano Jr. said the merger will allow the lawyers in his firm to offer a broader range of services to clients. It currently lists eight lawyers on its website and has offices in Delray Beach and Boca Raton. Seven lawyers are to join Day Pitney.
