Dallas PI Lawyer Indicted in Murder of Law Firm Partner's Ex-Wife
Dallas personal injury lawyer Scott Marshall has been indicted on a charge of murder in the December shooting death of the ex-wife of his former law partner.
According to the Dallas County District Attorney’s office, Marshall was indicted last week, according to the Dallas Morning News Crime Blog and the Texas Lawyer Tex Parte blog. Marshall’s lawyer, Gary Unell, hopes to get a reduction in his bond in a court appearance today.
Unell had previously told Texas Lawyer that the shooting was an accident. The victim, Staci Montgomery, is the ex-wife of Marshall’s former law partner, Bady Sassin.
Marshall and Sassin were engaged in a legal battle over the breakup of their firm when the shooting occurred. Sassin had argued Marshall did not hold up his end of the partnership, while Marshall claimed Sassin stole case files, the National Law Journal reported earlier this month. Marshall had said he learned of the stolen files from Staci Montgomery.
