DC Law Firms Flock to LEED-Certified Offices
Law firms in Washington, D.C., are increasingly moving to office buildings that have been certified for environmentally friendly LEED construction—a designation that stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
The Washington Post lists several firms in the District that recently moved to LEED-certified buildings, or that are planning such moves. They include: Squire Sanders & Dempsey, Vinson & Elkins, Hunton & Williams, Arent Fox, Holland & Knight, and McDermott Will & Emery.
For Squire Sanders, going green means downsizing. The firm moved to offices in a LEED building in August that are about two-thirds the size of its previous space. “Gone are the 300-square-foot partner offices and oak floors,” the story says. “In are bamboo cabinets, recycled Terrazzo floors and conference rooms that stream in natural light.”
