Cravath, Swaine & Moore is expecting everyone to be in the office Tuesdays and Wednesdays, according to a memo obtained by Above the Law.

The policy, which took effect Sept. 12, also strongly encourages everyone to work from the office on a third weekday, although the specific day can vary week to week.

A Cravath spokesperson did not immediately respond to an ABA Journal email seeking confirmation of Above the Law’s report.

The new policy departs from Cravath’s previous policy, dubbed a flexible “3.5-day” model by Above the Law. That policy said “the right balance” consisted of up to six business days of remote work each month, according to an August 2021 post by Above the Law. Lawyers could choose those out-of-office workdays.

Now, the Cravath policy is closer to that adopted by Ropes & Gray, which requires lawyers to be in the office on “anchor days” of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, according to Above the Law.
