In an ongoing effort to streamline internal costs, one of the world’s biggest law firms is now focusing on what it pays to help feed lawyers and staff while they are at work.

Clifford Chance has announced that it plans to reduce the hours that its headquarters London restaurant is open (other self-serve and deli options will remain available) and is increasing the cost of subsidized food by 6 percent, reports the Lawyer.

Earlier this year, as discussed in a prior ABAJournal.com post, the firm focused on cutting what it described as excessive taxi costs and warned attorneys not to run the meter.

Nonetheless, it appears that the firm may have its financial priorities straight, at least as far as associates are concerned: “Clifford Chance announced its associate pay-rises yesterday,” the legal publication writes, and they “ranged from between around 4 and 4.88 percent at most levels.”
