Headed to court in downtown Detroit on Friday morning along with a social worker, Deandre Wilson made it through a security screening without incident.

But then, after he put his coat back on, the 29-year-old allegedly turned around before exiting the screening area and slapped a Wayne County sheriff’s deputy, who hit the ground, according to the Detroit Free Press, WDIV and WWJ.

Initially charged in a similar attack on a Taylor, Michigan, police officer and free on bond, Wilson now faces a new assault case over the attack on Crystal Dominguez. He is being held in lieu of $300,000 bail pending a Jan.15 court date.

Sheriff Benny Napoleon said all protocols were followed at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice and noted that security officers were not told in advance that Wilson had been charged with assaulting a police officer. “The person just randomly attacked her, and I don’t know what different we could’ve done,” he told the newspaper. Dominguez was taken to a hospital Friday.

The Detroit courthouse was briefly locked down after the incident. It isn’t clear from news reports whether Wilson ever made it to his scheduled hearing that day concerning the Taylor case.
