Chadbourne & Parke plans to open a northern California office in either San Francisco or Silicon Valley.

And the New York City-based international law firm has already begun hiring, according to the Am Law Daily.

Relying on a report from its sibling publication, the Recorder, the law blog says that Chadbourne will be bringing Duane Valz, who is now associate general counsel of global patents for Yahoo, on board at the new office next month.

Presently, Chadbourne has two other United States offices, in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., in addition to its New York City headquarters, and nine international offices throughout the world, according to the firm’s website.

Meanwhile, another firm that, like Chadbourne, is particularly known for its insurance coverage practice is also adding to its attorney roster in California. Jenner & Block is hiring Jerry Oshinsky, a former name partner in several firms, and expects him to help the Chicago-based midsized law partnership build its West Coast operations, as discussed in an earlier ABAJournal.com post.
