Poll: Pick the best lawyer and his hand puppet caption

In our featured cartoon this month, ABA Journal staffers have picked their favorite captions. Now it’s your turn to pick a winner. Vote before Feb. 23.

  • 63%
"OK, if you don’t buy what I’m saying then maybe you’ll listen to Learned Hand."
  • 14.91%
"Your honor, I'd like to apologize for my co-counsel's outburst."
  • 22.09%
"I brought my lawyer to this competency hearing. He’ll take it from here."

Clearly, many of our readers have seen Scarface, with several proposing that the caption be, “Say hello to my little friend.” But ABA Journal staffers picked these as their favorite captions for the February cartoon, featuring a Jeff Dionise-created scene featuring a lawyer and his hand puppet approaching the bench.

Now, it’s your turn to pick the caption that you think fits best. Simply vote in the cartoon poll for one of these captions before Feb. 23:

• “OK, if you don’t buy what I’m saying then maybe you’ll listen to Learned Hand.” —submitted by Robert J. Selsor of St. Louis, Missouri

• “Your honor, I’d like to apologize for my co-counsel’s outburst.” —submitted by Keith Houston of Houston, Texas

• “I brought my lawyer to this competency hearing. He’ll take it from here.” —submitted by Kevin G. Ross of St. Paul, Minnesota.

How to vote: Using our poll, select the caption you think best fits the scene depicted in the cartoon.

Voting period: Votes must be cast by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22.

What’s the prize? Bragging rights. Plus, the winning caption and credit to the caption writer will appear in an upcoming issue of the ABA Journal.
