Canceled Wedding Suit Settles
A bride-to-be has settled her lawsuit against the company that owned a posh New York penthouse that canceled her scheduled wedding a few months before the event.
The case settled soon after a New York judge ruled that Sky Studios had to perform its contract to serve as the site for plaintiff Michelle Barry’s wedding, the New York Law Journal reports. Sky Studios had argued it was not bound by the contract because zoning laws did not permit the site to be used for weddings.
Judge Milton Tingling noted that the company canceled the contract at about the same time it agreed to sell the property for $17 million.
Sky Studios offered two penthouses popular for weddings, including that of comedian Jerry Seinfeld. The location also was the site for Chelsea Clinton’s birthday party and a Sex in the City episode.
