Burns White is acquiring a litigation boutique that will add 11 lawyers to its Pittsburgh office.

The merger with Pittsburgh-based Dapper, Baldasare, Benson, Behling & Kane will take place Jan. 1, according to a press release and a story by the Legal Intelligencer (sub. req.).

Burns White executive committee member David White told the Legal Intelligencer that Burns White has 23 practice areas, but part of its foundations are in insurance defense. “Up until this point in time, we did very little insurance coverage, bad faith or extra-contractual litigation,” he said. The Dapper Baldasare lawyers are primarily known for that work, he told the publication.

After the merger, Burns White will have more than 86 lawyers in Pittsburgh and more than 130 lawyers at its nine offices.
