Blogger Settles Threatened Big-Firm Libel Case
A Nashville, Tenn., woman and a local recruiting firm that had threatened to sue her over her blogged description of a bad experience there have agreed to settle their differences. The dispute apparently was resolved after Katherine Coble agreed to remove “select portions” of her blog that headhunter J.L. Kirk particularly objected to, according to a report today in the City Paper.
Encouraging the settlement was a huge amount of publicity that the blog received on the Internet, prompting experts to wonder why a business would threaten to sue when such predictable publicity is likely to be adverse. For details on the dispute, see this earlier post.
