Kirkland & Ellis has promoted 205 lawyers to partner, the highest number that it has ever reported.
Kirkland has increased its partner promotions for at least the seventh year in a row, Law.com reports in an article noted by Above the Law. The number of promotions has increased more than 156% since 2013, when it promoted 80 lawyers to partner, according to Bloomberg Law.
The “vast majority” of those promoted will be nonequity partners, and many won’t make it into the equity ranks, Law.com reports.
Kirkland is No. 1 on the Am Law 100, a list of top-grossing law firms. Its gross revenue was $6.51 billion, and its profits per equity partner were $7.51 million in 2022, according to figures released this spring by Law.com.
