Best Buy Sends Cease-and-Desist Letter to ‘God Squad’ Priest
A Wisconsin priest who drives a Volkswagen Beetle with a “God Squad” logo has gotten a cease-and-desist letter from Best Buy.
The letter informs Father Luke Strand at the Holy Family Parish in Fond Du Lac that his logo too closely resembles Best Buy’s trademarked Geek Squad logo, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Fond du Lac Reporter and the Associated Press.
According to the Fond du Lac Reporter, “Father Luke Strand has God on his side but geeks on his back.”
Paula Baldwin, senior manager for public relations at Best Buy, told the Journal Sentinel that the company is working with Strand to alter his logo so it won’t infringe the company’s trademark. “We’re confident that together we’ll come up with a good (dare we say heavenly?) solution for everyone,” she said.
