Baker Hostetler Partner, Vorys Sater Associate Among US Atty Nominees

A Baker Hostetler partner and an associate at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease are among six lawyers recently nominated to serve as U.S. attorneys.

Steven Dettelbach is a litigator in Baker’s Cleveland office who is a member of the white-collar defense and corporate investigations practice, Crain’s Cleveland Business reports. He was nominated to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

Before he joined Baker Hostetler in 2006, Dettelbach was an assistant U.S. Attorney on the Organized Crime and Corruption Strike Force. He has worked in two U.S. Attorney’s offices and in the U.S. Justice Department, according to a press release.

The Vorys associate, Carter Stewart of Columbus, was nominated to be U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Ohio. He was an assistant U.S. attorney in the Northern District of California from 2003 to 2005, the Columbus Dispatch reports. He specializes in complex litigation and previously worked at McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen in San Francisco, according to his bio on the Vorys website.

A press release lists the other nominees. One of them is Brendan Johnson, the son of Sen. Tim Johnson, nominated to be U.S. attorney for South Dakota, the Associated Press reports. Johnson is a partner at Johnson, Heidepriem, Abdallah and Johnson in Sioux Falls.
