Avvo Grows, Ranks Lawyers From All 50 States
Lawyer-ranking website Avvo announced today the addition of attorney lists and ratings in nine additional states—which means the Seattle-based start-up now covers every U.S. state and the District of Columbia.
Launched in 2007, Avvo rates listed lawyers on a 1-to-10 scale and includes areas of concentration and disciplinary sanctions. The sometimes-controversial website has battled bar associations in Illinois, Florida and New Jersey in its nationwide quest to obtain licensed attorney lists.
“We’ve grown from concept to market leader very quickly,” said Avvo founder and CEO Mark Britton in a press release, “driven by consumer demand for more information and better legal guidance, and lawyers seeking cost-effective opportunities to get more business.”
