Associate Wins Cape Cod Weekend in Networking Contest
After beating out 11 other Boston associates in a business-generation contest at litigation boutique Hanify & King, lawyer Chris Morrison will get to enjoy his first-place prize: a weekend getaway at Cape Cod.
The firm awarded points and prizes for business-generation activities, the National Law Journal reports. Did the associate snag a business card? One point. Attend a networking event? Three points. Set up a meeting with a potential client? Five points.
Morrison amassed 83 new contacts, went to 37 events and met with 48 potential clients, the story says. He said the contest was all about good habit creation and explained that his technique does not employ a hard sales approach.
“I try to tell people, ‘I hope you never have to call me, but if some of your friends have a need, keep me in mind,’ ” Morrison told the NLJ. “It’s important that people remember who we are and what we do, and hopefully they’ll think of us.”
The second-place winner won two tickets to a Bernadette Peters concert, while the third-place winner received a pair of tickets to a Boston Bruins game.
