Arizona, Stanford Law Schools Most Popular for Justice Visits
The law schools at the University of Arizona and Stanford are most popular with U.S. Supreme Court justices.
Each school was visited by three justices last year, TaxProf Blog reports, relying on financial disclosure forms. Justices visiting Arizona were Stephen G. Breyer, Antonin Scalia and Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. Visiting Stanford were the chief justice and Justices Breyer and Anthony M. Kennedy.
The highest law school paycheck went to Kennedy, who earned $26,550 teaching at the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, in conjunction with the University of Salzburg.
Roberts visited the most law schools: eight in all, including the New England School of Law where he earned $15,000 for teaching a course in Ireland, and the University of Idaho, where he earned an $11,500 teaching stipend. Now-retired Justices John Paul Stevens and David H. Souter, on the other hand, didn’t make any law school appearances.
