Allen & Overy is launching an office in Washington, D.C., by hiring several lawyers from O’Melveny & Myers.

The new hires include financial regulatory partners Barbara Stettner and Chris Salter and counsel Charles Borden, who will be an A&O partner, Legal Week reports. The firm also expects to staff the office with 12 associates, including several from O’Melveny.

Managing partner of the new office will be David Slade, who heads A&O’s U.S. banking practice in New York, the story says. The D.C. outpost will be the second United States office for the U.K.-based firm.

The D.C. office will focus at first on regulatory advice, but plans are in the works to expand its offerings.
