AG Meets With Slain Prosecutor's Family
During a visit to Seattle, U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales met today with the family of a federal prosecutor shot and killed by an unknown sniper five years ago as he sat working in his home near a window.
The visit gave Tom Wales’ family hope for an increased federal push to solve his murder, reports the Seattle Times.
“This was the first time the AG came out, sat down and looked at Amy Wales [the victim’s adult daughter] and said, ‘I am committed to this case,’ ” says Elizabeth Wales, his former wife. “This is a good thing. Tom deserves that — any employee of Justice deserves that.”
Some have been critical of the Justice Department for not pulling out all the stops to solve the case, and it has even been speculated that former U.S. Attorney Tom McKay might have been forced out of office for being too aggressive about investigating the murder, reports an earlier Seattle Times article.
