Judge asks full DC Circuit to reconsider Flynn order
U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan wants another chance to persuade a federal appeals court to allow him to scrutinize a prosecution decision to drop the case against former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Lawyers for Sullivan have asked the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to reconsider a panel decision ordering him to drop the case. Law firm ordered to produce an email with judge’s nude photos
An email said to contain nude photos of a West Palm Beach Circuit Judge Marni Bryson of Florida must be produced in her suit alleging blackmail by Conrad & Scherer, the law firm that represented her ex-husband’s girlfriend amid Bryson’s divorce. Judge William Roby ordered the Tripp Scott law firm to turn over the email that was allegedly sent to the ex-husband’s girlfriend, who was one of the firm’s former lawyers. (Law360)
Judge resigns after theft charge
An Alabama judge has resigned after an indictment accused him of stealing funds from the court and legal clients. Judge Doug Patterson of Limestone County, Alabama, was continuing to earn a salary even though he had been suspended from the bench. He said his resignation should “not be viewed in any way as an admission of guilt.” (AL.com)
