After loss of DC rainmaker, Cadwalader cancels summer associate program in the city
Cadwalader has decided to cancel its summer associate program in Washington, D.C., after losing four antitrust partners, including rainmaker Charles “Rick” Rule, the managing partner of the D.C. office.
Cadwalader is telling students who had signed up for on-campus interviews that it decided to cancel summer 2017 program, Above the Law reports.
Cadwalader is continuing its summer associate programs in New York and Charlotte, the law firm told Above the Law. The law firm issued this statement to the ABA Journal:
“Cadwalader remains committed to our summer programs which help us acquire the talent we need to support future growth. To be fair to students, and ensure that we have appropriate opportunities for all our program participants, we have decided to take a year off from our D.C. office summer program. This will allow us to determine our needs for fall 2018 associates in that office, which we will fulfill through 3L hiring. In the meantime, we continue to recruit lateral talent for D.C. and other offices, and our summer programs in New York and Charlotte will continue as planned.”
Rule and the other antitrust partners are jumping to Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.
