Adams and Reese to acquire a 23-lawyer firm
For the second time this year, New Orleans-based Adams and Reese is expanding its attorney roster by acquiring another legal partnership.
This time it’s 23-attorney Ellis Lawhorne. The Columbia, S.C., firm is expected to tie the knot with Adams and Reese on June 1, reports the Advocate. Together, the two firms will have about 340 attorneys.
Robert P. Bethea Jr. will be in charge of his new firm’s Columbia office.
“We realized that a merger with a larger firm would enable us to provide more resources to meet the higher levels of specialization that our clients are increasingly requiring,” he said. “Smaller firms have limitations, simply by virtue of their size or footprint.”
In March, Adams and Reese acquired Volpe, Bajalia, Wickes, Rogerson & Wachs, adding a Jacksonville., Fla., office, its fifth in that state.
