Actor Ryan O'Neal & Son Redmond Booked in Drug Possession Case
A probation search this morning of the Malibu, Calif., home of actor Ryan O’Neal, 67, resulted in his arrest, as well as the arrest of his son, Redmond, 24.
Authorities allegedly found methamphetamine in the possession of the younger O’Neal and a vial of the illegal drug in the actor’s bedroom, reports the Los Angeles Times. Both were booked on suspicion of narcotics possession and will be held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
O’Neal, who was at one time married to actress Farrah Fawcett, is probably best-known for his leading role in the 1970 movie Love Story, for which he was nominated for an Oscar. He also starred in Paper Moon with his daughter Tatum, who won an Academy Award for her debut role as a child actor in the 1973 film.
The probation search related to a case concerning Redmond O’Neal, the newspaper writes. He was convicted of driving under the influence and was also charged with drug possession when he was arrested last year in the DUI case, the Times reports.
Although he was not convicted of drug charges in that case, according to the newspaper, he was put on probation as well in 2005 in a drug possession case.
