Actress Lindsay Lohan was sentenced Tuesday to 90 days in jail followed by 90 days of rehab for violating probation in two 2007 cases of driving under the influence.

The sentence by Judge Marsha Revel of Beverly Hills was tougher than prosecutors had sought, the Los Angeles Times reports. Revel said Lohan had missed a court hearing in May, had skipped court-ordered alcohol education classes and had lied after her initial arrest, claiming she didn’t own the pants she was wearing that had cocaine in the pockets, according to the LA Times and the Associated Press. It turned out the pants were her favorites, the judge said.

“There were a number of instances of [Lohan] not taking things seriously,” Revel said. “It’s like someone who cheats but doesn’t think it’s cheating if they don’t get caught.”

Female defendants who commit nonviolent offenses typically serve only 25 percent of their sentences, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told the Times.

AP began its story on the sentencing this way: “Lindsay Lohan’s future includes a new fashion line, two new movies, some time in jail and another stint in rehab.”

Lohan cried upon hearing of the sentence. TMZ posted the video.
