If you ever had a dream of becoming your alma mater’s athletics director, making partner at your law firm could be good job training. At least that’s what two former partners at the sports-savvy Indianapolis-based Baker & Daniels have discovered.
In July, John “Jack” Swarbrick, a former Baker partner, became the athletics director at the University of Notre Dame, the Am Law Daily reports.
Then, just last week, Baker partner Fred Glass took the same position at Indiana University.
Glass told Am Law Daily that the experience has been “almost surreal.”
So what prompted him to seriously consider the move? Turns out that Swarbrick’s delight in his new job was enough to nudge Glass in the same direction.
“Jack told me it’s the greatest job he’d ever had. He just warned me not to underestimate the impact it would have on my family, and that was my real concern. It’s an all-consuming job, and I know what those are like.”
