Although they’re not calling it a merger, that’s what it effectively is.

Almost all of the lawyers at Denver-based Jacobs Chase, including the two name partners, are joining 600-attorney Husch Blackwell, the Am Law Daily reports.

Four of the firm’s 28 lawyers opted for various reasons to pursue other opportunities, the article says.

Dealmaker Paul Jacobs, who like co-founder Jeffrey Chase, will be of counsel to Husch Blackwell, says the move will give the lawyers at his firm more resources to serve clients.

“Our primary focus has always been litigation and real estate,” he tells the legal publication. “And, we’ve never had, for example, a health care group. Well, if we’re going to do senior housing, I need a health care group. If we’re going to do hotel deals, I need a more sophisticated tax group.”
