A 16-lawyer group led by insurance defense litigator Gregory Katz has departed Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker to join the New York office of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith.

With the new group, the Los Angeles-based Lewis Brisbois has over 75 lawyers in New York, where it first opened an office eight years ago, reports the National Law Journal in an article reprinted in New York Lawyer (reg. req.).

The 750-attorney national firm has also expanded in the South in recent years, opening offices last year in Atlanta; Beaumont and Houston, Texas; and Charleston, W. Va.; and in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Lafayette, La., in 2007.
