14 Families Settle Sept. 11 Suits
A judge’s decision to allow jurors to hear cockpit recordings of a plane downed on Sept. 11, 2001, may have helped lead to the settlement of 14 cases against United Airlines and two security companies.
The settlement amounts were not disclosed, the New York Times reports.
The lawyer for the families, Don Migliori of Motley Rice, said he believed the judge’s decision to allow recordings from United Flight 93 helped spur settlement talks.
“The recording showed they were conscious and aware of the plane being hijacked and the last five minutes of struggle, heroism and flight,” Migliori said.
Twenty-one cases remain out of 95 originally filed.
