Goal III Members-at-Large Seats on the Nominating Committee
At its 2015 Annual Meeting, the House of Delegates adopted a proposal amending Section 9.2 (a) and (b) of the Association’s Constitution to provide that all member-at-large seats on the Nominating Committee be referred to as Goal III members-at-large and that the number of Goal III members-at-large be increased from six (6) to eight (8) to include one self-identified LGBT member-at-large for a three-year term and one member-at-large identified as having a disability initially for a two-year term. The amendment further provides that the ABA President shall appoint the Goal III members-at-large from broadly solicited nominations from the diversity commissions, sections, divisions and forums, state and local bar associations, and the membership at large. NOTICE BY THE SECRETARY OF THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION REGARDING BOARD OF GOVERNORS VACANCY
The resignation of Alice A. Bruno of New Britain, Connecticut, a member of the Board of Governors from District 2, has created a vacancy on the Board of Governors for the 2014-2017 term. Pursuant to § 7.4 of the Constitution, the unexpired term for this vacancy position shall be filled by an eligible member of the Association selected by the members of the House of Delegates in the district in which the vacancy exists. All nominees must be accredited to the following states of District 2: Connecticut, Massachusetts and Michigan. If you would like to become a nominee or wish to nominate someone accredited to District 2, nominations may be made by mail or email to the Office of the Secretary, c/o Leticia D.
