For decades, Phil Witte balanced a civil litigation practice with cartooning and writing, thinking he needed to support himself and his family, and engage in creative pursuits for his sanity. After publishing various books he was able to give up his practice, and focus on cartooning full time. His latest book, Funny Stuff: How Great Cartoonists Make Great Cartoons, was co-written with Rex Hesner and published by Prometheus Books.
Of this cartoon, Witte says: “This is an example of basing a cartoon on a common phrase. Here, I’ve given the court of public opinion the power to render a verdict.”
