The legacy of the Magna Carta continued with the formation of the Constitution of the United States and the adoption of the Bill of Rights. The Library of Congress description of this manuscript reads: “Title page signed by George Washington; this imprint contains a list of the proposed amendments to the constitution that would become the United States Bill of Rights. The Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Amendments all contain important echoes of rules laid down in Magna Carta.”
