Special counsel to President Nixon. Started a securities law firm before joining the Nixon election campaign and then going to the White House. Served seven months in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges of obstruction of justice for attempting to defame Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked the Pentagon Papers to the press. Disbarred in Virginia and the District of Columbia, license suspended in Massachusetts. Founded Prison Fellowship in 1976 after becoming a born-again Christian.
