John Gibeaut, a former senior writer, joined the ABA Journal staff in 1996. He had worked as a reporter for The Tampa Tribune, Sarasota Herald-Tribune, the Niagara Gazette, and the City News Bureau of Chicago. He earned a J.D. from The Florida State University and earned a B.A. in journalism and French from The Ohio State University. John died Aug. 9, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. He was 61.
