Hands at keyboard.

You might have already heard about Westlaw Edge, the most intelligent legal research platform ever. The new version of Westlaw combines a full suite of AI-powered legal research tools, more than 100 years of attorney-edited annotations, and a long-standing commitment to advancing legal research technology.

Westlaw Edge, provides legal professionals with the next generation of AI-driven legal search, exclusive new warnings for law that is no longer valid, unrivaled litigation analytics, and sophisticated new research tools that help legal professionals deliver results to clients faster and more accurately.

Here are ten things you can do with Westlaw Edge that you might not have known about:

  1. “Search within” 13 different motion types in Litigation Analytics. Find the precise details you need. Using the “search within” feature, you can narrow motions by any search terms you choose - case type, filing role, even law firm party name, and attorney. Quickly determine what made comparable cases successful or unsuccessful in the past, so you can enhance your motion strategy.

  2. Compare any two versions of a statute or federal regulation. If a law has been amended many times over, you can compare any two versions that are available on Westlaw Edge - not just the latest revisions. With Statutes Compare and Regulations Compare you can easily see changes to statutes and federal regulations; added text appears highlighted in blue, and deleted text is shown with red strike-through.

  3. Instantly be warned if a case may have been implicitly overruled. Look for the orange KeyCite Overruling Risk icon, which cautions that a case may be implicitly undermined based on its reliance on an overruled or otherwise invalid prior decision. No other legal research platform provides this warning type.

  4. Easily navigate with an interactive table of contents. The table of contents for cases is now displayed on the left of your screen. It simplifies navigation and shows your position in the case as you scroll through the document.

  5. Save your searches. With Westlaw Edge you can save up to ten queries that you frequently run. Simply click on the star next to any recent search in the drop-down of the search bar.
