Tolerant of Public Nudity, San Francisco to Mull Possible Law Requiring Towel Under Seated Posterior
Although tolerant of public nudity, San Francisco does expect those who opt to stroll about in the buff to adhere to a few standards of protocol.
And, to ensure that those standards are met, Supervisor Scott Wiener, who represents the Castro District, where the sight of men wearing nothing but a pair of sneakers or sandals isn’t unusual, plans to introduce proposed legislation today that spells them out, reports the San Francisco Chronicle on its City Insider page.
Central to the concept is a towel, or similar item, that nudists would be required to place on a chair before sitting down. They also would be required to cover up before walking into a restaurant.
”San Francisco is a liberal and tolerant city, and we pride ourselves on that fact,” said Wiener in a written statement. ”Yet, while we have a variety of views about public nudity, we can all agree that when you sit down naked, you should cover the seat, and you should cover up when you go into a food establishment.”
