These 10 law firms are ranked the most family-friendly
The latest list of the most family-friendly law firms created by Yale Law Women looks a lot different from last year’s top 10 list.
Only three law firms are on both the 2015 and 2016 lists: Arnold & Porter, Morrison & Foerster, and WilmerHale. The new list was created using new ranking methodology.
The list is based on firm policies relating to part-time and flex-time schedules, parental leave, gender equity, billing requirements, and professional development opportunities. In alphabetical order, this year’s top 10 are:
Arnold & Porter
Foley Hoag
Foley & Lardner
Goodwin Procter
K&L Gates
Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo
Morrison & Foerster
O’Melveny & Myers
Vinson & Elkins
WilmerHale
In past years, the ranking was based on surveys sent to the nation’s top law firms. This year, the list is based on information from the National Association for Law Placement. The data was weighted based on a survey of Yale Law School alumni in large firms that asked the respondents to rank the relative importance of different family-friendly policies.
The report (PDF) names the top law firms in each category, as well as law firms with the best family-friendly policies in different cities.
