ABA Journal editors have published their year-end choices for best online media. For 2017, the annual list includes podcasts and social media on legal topics as well as blogs.

The 2017 ABA Journal Web 100 recognizes law blogs, or blawgs, as the magazine has since its first Blawg 100 feature in 2007.

For the 2017 feature, published in the December ABA Journal magazine, the list includes 50 blogs, 25 podcasts on lawyers and legal issues, and 25 Twitter accounts that focus on the law. In addition, the magazine has added five more bloggers to its Blawg 100 Hall of Fame, an honor roll of blogs showing consistent excellence over the years. The Blawg 100 Hall of Fame now has 55 entries.

“Since 2007, the ABA Journal has helped shine a light on the stunning breadth of legal topics and voices to found in the legal blogosphere,” ABA Journal editor and publisher Molly McDonough said. “Journal editors have selected yet another stellar list of blogs, while recognizing the contributions of podcasts and social media. We hope you’ll find legal information sources in this list that are completely new to you.”

Readers nominated blogs, podcasts and social media for inclusion this summer, and a panel of legal peers contributed to judging with additional nominations and comments.

The magazine package includes a sidebar on features of exemplary law firm websites. A survey of legal bloggers, finds that blogging continues to draw new practitioners in the legal community.
