It didn’t take long for the ousted dean of Duquesne University’s law school to find a new job.

After claiming he was forced to resign late late year from the Pittsburgh law school because of a personality conflict with the school’s president, Don Guter is now headed to a new job at South Texas College of Law in Houston, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

And there were two other law schools that also sought his services after his departure from Duquesne, Guter tells the Pittsburgh newspaper. Now 60, he will start his new job Aug. 1.

“We felt an instant comfort level with him,” says Houston attorney Mike Hays, who served as co-chair of the South Texas search committee and describes the law school as “thrilled” to have Guter headed there. Hays is also chairman of the law school’s board of directors.

At Dusquesne, where a number of students and alumni protested the university’s decision to oust the popular dean in December for claimed managerial ineffectiveness, there is no word yet on who will replace the interim dean Ken Gormley, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

A Dusquesne spokeswoman says the university wishes Guter well in his new job.
