Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland is recommending that the Ohio Supreme Court building be renamed in honor of Chief Justice Thomas Moyer, who died unexpectedly Friday afternoon.

Moyer would have turned 71 this month, the Columbus Dispatch reports. He died a day after being admitted to the hospital for a gastrointestinal ailment.

Moyer had presided over a $101.6 million restoration of the court building, now called the Ohio Judicial Center, the story says.

“It was a building that he loved, that he worked so hard to have restored,” Strickland said. “I think it would be hugely appropriate and fitting for him to be given that honor.”
