NY Attorney General’s Office Suspends Lawyer Amid Questions About Dominatrix Job
A well-respected lawyer who handles securities fraud cases in the New York Attorney General’s office has been suspended after the New York Post raised questions about whether she is working after hours as a dominatrix.
The lawyer, Alisha Smith, was in the news three years ago when then-Attorney General Andrew Cuomo praised her for helping obtain a $5 billion settlement from Bank of America, the New York Post reports. The suspension is without pay, pending an investigation, an office spokesman told the newspaper.
Sources told the newspaper that the suspension is tied to an office policy that bars outside employment without prior approval if the job results in more than $1,000 in pay. According to the Post, “it is common in the S&M community for dominatrixes to receive payment for appearances at fetish parties, where they unleash tawdry torments on eager submissives.”
