9 partners leave Dickstein Shapiro; is there a new potential merger partner?
Nine partners have left Dickstein Shapiro, eight of them in the law firm’s Stamford, Connecticut, office.
The Stamford office also lost one counsel and two associates, the National Law Journal (sub. req.) reports. Six of the lawyers listed their new home as Holland & Knight in their LinkedIn profiles this weekend, the NLJ says. A ninth partner, corporate transactions lawyer Neil Lefkowitz, has jumped to Loeb & Loeb.
According to the National Law Journal, the departures “appear to be part of an avalanche of outgoing laterals this year for Dickstein Shapiro.” The law firm had fewer than 160 lawyers last month, compared to 343 in 2012.
The departing Stamford lawyers would give Holland & Knight a new office in Connecticut.
Dickstein was reportedly in merger talks with Bryan Cave, but the potential merger was called off at the end of the year, according to previous coverage. Now the firm is reportedly in merger talks with Blank Rome, report Bloomberg Big Law Business, the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Legal Intelligencer (sub. req.).
