New Concierge Service Caters to ‘Time Poor, Cash Rich’ Lawyers
Lawyers feeling the heat to work longer hours to generate business as the economy continues to slide have a new ally in their corner—one that will stock the fridge, shuttle children to soccer practice, and even bring chicken soup should the flu strike.
Legally Organized, billed as the first legal concierge service to cater exclusively to the legal profession, was launched last week by CEO of Synergy Legal Professionals and former New York litigator Karen Pordum and Courtney DiCarlo, past director of marketing at Quinn Emanuel Urquart Oliver & Hedges. The Web-based service, which includes assistance adjusting to a recent divorce (Pordum’s team can update your post-matrimonial wardrobe), baby-proofing a house, and sorting out parking tickets and insurance claims, is designed to give “time-poor, cash-rich” lawyers their lives back, the Am Law Daily reports.
Even as more law firms ax attorneys and cut paychecks, the women are optimistic that demand for personal assistant-type services will increase.
“The people who are still working at these firms are probably under more pressure to get their jobs done and to excel because they have fewer colleagues,” the Los Angeles-based Pordum told the law blog, adding that she was once in their shoes.
“I remember being a lawyer at a time when people were being laid off—during the Savings & Loan crisis—and we were all overworked. This is all about balancing your life. Whether you’re in a recession or a boom economy, everyone still has their to-do list to get through.”
